With more public and paid fast charging stations popping up across the country (over 425 in Manitoba alone) combined with level 1 or 2 at-home charging, it’s never been easier to keep your EV ready for your daily drive or for a grand cross-country adventure.

Kia EVs have ranges between 332 km a day (EV6 GT) to 499 km (EV6 Land) on a single charge. The current generation of Kia EVs also support fast charging, which can add hundreds of km of range in 5 minutes or less at a fast charging station.

The total cost of ownership for an EV can be significantly lower than their gas-powered counterparts. While the initial cost is typically higher, government incentives, a lack of fuel costs, and lower maintenance costs mean that the savings of driving an EV can add up.

EVs do typically have much lower maintenance costs. Without traditional transmissions or engines, EVs have fewer moving parts. That means fewer components and fluids to maintain, break down, and fix.

The majority of Canada’s electricity (over 80%) comes from renewable energy sources, and advancements in EV battery manufacturing are expected to boost recyclability to over 90%. With zero tailpipe emissions—or significantly lower emissions in hybrid models—EVs undoubtedly have a smaller environmental footprint than traditional gas-powered vehicles.
